ISLAMABAD: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry has said the government firmly believes in reconciliation and made serious efforts to resolve political matters through dialogue and negotiation, but PTI deliberately sabotaged the process.
Addressing a press conference alongside Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan, he said the government engaged PTI with complete sincerity and made every effort to resolve matters amicably. He said several representatives of the PTI leadership also took part in the negotiation process.
Barrister Danyal said the government was ready to take all political forces along and believed in resolving political differences democratically through dialogue and reconciliation. He said PTI lacked clear leadership on negotiations, while the government demonstrated seriousness in taking the process forward.
He said certain elements were trying to mislead the public and promote the politics of hatred and division. The government, he added, remained ready to continue consultations with all parties in the national interest to promote political stability, national unity and democratic values.
Referring to the performance of the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Danyal said serious questions had been raised over the past 15 years regarding governance, resolution of public issues, and law and order in the province. He said corruption flourished while basic facilities and administrative improvements remained elusive.
He said more than 2,000 incidents of terrorism occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while over 72 personnel lost their lives in terrorist attacks. He said law enforcement personnel and the public had rendered countless sacrifices in the war against terrorism, making joint national efforts essential to eliminate terrorism and ensure peace and stability.
Barrister Danyal reiterated that, despite political differences, the government remained committed to taking all parties along and continuing dialogue and consultation to resolve the country’s challenges.
