Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman Punjab HEC (HI, SI), hosted an insightful meeting at the Punjab Higher Education Commission where a distinguished delegation called on the commission. The visitors included Air Marshal (R) Arshad Malik, former CEO of Pakistan International Airlines; Dr. Tariq Sardar, Federal Secretary; and Brigadier (R) Babar Alauddin, Chairperson of the Chief Minister’s Directorate of Evaluation, Feedback, Inspection & Monitoring (DEFIM), Government of Punjab.
The delegation and Punjab HEC officials discussed governance improvements across universities and regulatory frameworks, with a focus on strengthening oversight, evaluation and quality assurance. Members drew on their diverse experience in federal administration, aviation management and provincial monitoring to identify practical measures that could enhance institutional performance.
Discussions covered opportunities for future collaboration between PHEC and government directorates to improve inspection and feedback mechanisms, promote transparent evaluation and support capacity building within higher education institutions. The meeting set out a pathway for follow-up discussions to explore joint initiatives and technical cooperation.
Observers say greater coordination between federal and provincial bodies and the Punjab HEC could help streamline governance reforms and raise standards across the province’s higher education sector. The visit underscores continued attention to governance and collaboration in advancing higher education in Punjab.
