**Punjab Higher Education Commission Hosts Strategic Meeting with University Leaders to Drive Sector Reforms**

The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) convened a high-level meeting with university vice chancellors and academic leaders to set a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at strengthening Punjab’s higher education sector. The strategic session focused on infrastructure development, boosting research capacity, and ensuring the financial sustainability of universities across the province.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI), Chairperson of PHEC, and brought together leading figures from the academic community. Among the attendees were Mr. Muzammil Mehmood, Commission Member of PHEC; Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore; Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU); Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU), Lahore; and Mr. Naveed Akbar, representing the University of Chenab, Gujrat. Directors General and senior officials from PHEC also participated in the discussions.

Participants addressed key areas including modernizing university systems, fostering innovation-driven academic growth, and promoting research excellence. The meeting emphasized the importance of stronger industry-academic partnerships, accelerating digital transformation, and implementing strategies for financial resilience in higher education institutions.

Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan reiterated PHEC’s dedication to equipping Punjab’s universities to confront current challenges and anticipate future demands in a knowledge-based economy. He affirmed the Commission’s ongoing support through policy guidance, strategic planning, and capacity-building efforts.

This collaborative forum represents a major step towards aligning Punjab’s higher education priorities with international academic standards and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, as stakeholders work together to advance the province’s educational landscape.
