The Local Government & Community Development Department of Punjab convened a meeting led by Special Secretary Ms. Asia Gul to review the outcomes of third-party validation in local development projects. Dr. Kaiser Bengali briefed attendees on the findings, shared policy recommendations, and highlighted the necessity of aligning district-level development initiatives with Punjab’s Provincial Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Policy Agenda.

During his presentation, Dr. Bengali underscored the importance of bridging provincial strategies with grassroots action, advocating for the active involvement of District Coordination Committees (DCCs) in identifying local development projects. He argued that closer engagement with these committees would ensure greater relevance and effectiveness in implementing development schemes.

Ms. Asia Gul recognized the sustained efforts of the Urban Unit team in supporting the department’s initiatives. She also emphasized the need to further refine and strengthen the process of preparing PC-1s, the detailed project proposals that form the foundation for government development schemes.

Key participants from the Urban Unit in the meeting included Farwa Ashraf, Specialist in Social Mobilization; Meharwar Uppal, Program Officer for Environment; and Hanzala Shoaib, Manager of Database Administration. Together, they provided insights and expertise to support the continuous improvement of local government development projects.
