Punjab Sports Department Reviews 38 New Development Schemes

The Departmental Development Sub-Committee, chaired by Punjab Sports Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial, convened an important meeting to review the progress of various sports infrastructure projects across the province. The session saw participation from Director General Sports Punjab Khizra Afzal Chaudhry, Deputy Secretary Planning Ghazala Kanwal, Deputy Director Tariq Khanzada, as well as senior officials from the Finance Department and the Project Management Unit (PMU) Sports.

During the meeting, the committee examined 38 new sports schemes currently in development. Among these, Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial highlighted that plans for paddle tennis courts and climbing wall projects are being finalized and will soon be implemented.

Furthermore, a state-of-the-art three-story sports complex is set to be constructed to cater to table tennis, snooker, board games, and rowing, aiming to provide modern facilities to athletes in these disciplines. The Secretary also announced that gymnasiums will be built in Vehari and Kot Addu, while the stadium in Jampur is scheduled for renovation.

In Sialkot, the construction of new paddle courts has been approved, and a dedicated sports complex will be established in Liaqatpur, Rahim Yar Khan. The scope of the development also extends to the addition of retail shops alongside stadiums in several cities in Punjab, integrating commercial opportunities with sports infrastructure.

Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial directed all concerned officers to resolve any issues hampering the development of stadiums, including those in Bhurban, Murree, and other locations, to ensure timely progress and completion of the planned projects.
