Khawaja Imran Nazir, Punjab Minister for Health and Population, met with World Food Programme Country Director Coco Ushiyama in Lahore to discuss deeper collaboration on health, nutrition and community welfare. The discussion underscored the provincial government’s priority to extend services to vulnerable communities and strengthen Punjab health outcomes.
The minister briefed the WFP delegation on flagship initiatives including the Clinic on Wheels Project, the Nutrition Support Program and the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics. These programmes are designed to deliver quality healthcare and targeted nutrition services at the grassroots level, improving access in underserved areas and addressing malnutrition among women and children.
Khawaja Imran Nazir reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government remains committed to expanding healthcare access and reducing malnutrition across the province. He stressed that partnerships with international agencies such as WFP are essential to achieving sustainable Punjab health goals and reaching remote communities more effectively.
WFP Country Director Coco Ushiyama welcomed the provincial initiatives and reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to support expanded joint efforts. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to scale health and nutrition services across Punjab, aiming for a healthier and better nourished population.
