A joint initiative between the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Punjab and the National Institute of Health Islamabad is advancing infection prevention and control across tertiary hospitals in Punjab through focused IPC training and system support.
Five-day IPC cascade trainings were recently completed at Lahore General Hospital, the Punjab Institute of Mental Health, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore. These sessions were delivered by provincial IPC master trainers who worked directly with clinical teams to translate protocols into everyday practice.
The IPC training emphasised reinforcement of standard precautions, safe clinical practices and measures to reduce healthcare-associated infections, with a clear focus on improving patient safety outcomes within each facility. Practical coaching and facility-level discussions helped teams identify gaps and adapt procedures suitable to their wards.
Sincere appreciation is extended to the Provincial IPC Focal Person for her leadership and guidance and to the Provincial IPC Coordinator for his continuous coordination. Gratitude is also due to the medical superintendents, medical directors, principals and hospital administrations for their support, and to the master trainers and participants for their dedication to elevating IPC standards across Lahore.
The collaboration between SHC&ME Punjab and NIH Islamabad underscores an ongoing commitment to build local capacity through IPC training and to strengthen infection prevention systems across the province.
