Punjab Sports Board has launched trials to select teams for the upcoming National Youth Games 2025, with a focus on ensuring merit-based selection and comprehensive training for athletes. The selection process is taking place under the supervision of Director General Sports Punjab, Khizra Afzaal Chaudhry, at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex in Lahore.
The trials for badminton, featuring both boys and girls, were held at the gymnasium hall. More than 80 athletes participated enthusiastically, including over 50 boys and 30 girls. Competitive matches were organized as part of the trials to ensure the selection process remained transparent and based on merit.
The trials are being overseen by a committee comprising members such as Punjab Badminton Association Secretary Tayyab Sohail, Assistant Director Muhammad Waseem, Sajid Hussain, and senior athletes Nadeem Javed and Irfan Saeed Bhatti. The aim is to form well-prepared teams to represent Punjab at the National Youth Games in Islamabad.
According to DG Sports Punjab Khizra Afzaal Chaudhry, team trials for Punjab will continue until August 20. The successful athletes will be invited to training camps from August 22 to September 5, where experienced coaches will further hone their skills. Chaudhry emphasized that Punjab’s teams will participate in the National Youth Games with thorough preparation and high spirits.
