Qasim Ali Khan produced a composed and authoritative round to take the outright lead in the Alfalah Amateur at Lahore Gymkhana, posting the best gross score of 70 in testing, chilly conditions. The performance reinforced Qasim’s standing as one of Pakistan’s most promising amateur golfers and put him firmly in contention as the championship progresses.
Against a backdrop of mist and cold, Qasim’s round stood out for remarkable accuracy off the tee and an assured touch on the greens. His putting was notable for its consistency and composure, while calm course management and technical precision allowed him to navigate the slopes and hazards effectively despite the difficult weather.
The Alfalah Amateur drew a competitive field of more than 150 players, restricted to golfers with handicaps of 10 and below, underscoring the event’s national significance. In that strong field Qasim’s rhythm and experience at the national level were clear as he maintained steady scoring throughout the round.
Close behind Qasim was Saad Habib of Multan, who carded a gross 72 and showcased strong potential and fighting spirit. Sam Latif occupied third spot, while Ahmed Gibran of Lahore Gymkhana posted a gross 73 to remain firmly in contention. A tightly packed group on gross 74 included Salman Jehangir, Ameer Khawar Khawaja, Abdul Moeez and Muhammad Maneka, highlighting the depth of talent at the tournament.
As the Alfalah Amateur moves forward, attention will be on whether Qasim Ali Khan can maintain his form under continued pressure from a talented field, and how the leading contenders adapt to conditions at Lahore Gymkhana in the coming rounds.
