The Department of Pharmacy at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad observed World Pharmacists Day on September 25, 2025, in an event attended by faculty, students and regulatory leadership. Dr. Obaidullah, Chief Executive Officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, joined as the chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Tofeeq ur Rehman, chairman of the department, and distinguished faculty members were present to engage with attendees.
In his keynote address, Dr. Obaidullah urged students to widen their professional horizons by exploring the many domains within pharmaceutical sciences. He highlighted the crucial role pharmacists play across Pakistan’s health system, from frontline community care to specialised areas such as nanomedicine, and encouraged graduates to consider careers beyond traditional settings.
The address also underscored the value of a strong partnership between universities and regulators. Dr. Obaidullah praised ongoing collaboration between the department and DRAP, noting that closer ties help advance public health, improve medicine safety and create research and training opportunities for Pakistani pharmacy students. The event emphasised the need to equip the next generation of pharmacists with skills relevant to a rapidly evolving sector.
