QAU and PharmaEvo highlight osteoporosis management with expert talks to boost prevention, diagnosis and treatment awareness across Pakistan.

Quaid-i-Azam University’s Department of Pharmacy, together with PharmaEvo (Pvt.) Ltd., held an informative session focused on osteoporosis prevention, diagnosis and long-term care. The programme emphasized early intervention, evidence-based treatment and lifestyle changes as key elements of effective osteoporosis management for patients across Pakistan.

Dr. Salma Malik, Director External Linkages at QAU, attended as the chief guest and praised the Department of Pharmacy and PharmaEvo for promoting strong academia–industry ties that enhance healthcare education and public awareness. Her remarks highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to improve community understanding of bone health and prevention strategies.

Eminent speakers shared practical and clinical perspectives on modern approaches to osteoporosis. Prof. Dr. Syeda Batool Mazhar, former head of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, and Brig. (R) Dr. Amer Fakhr of Pak Emirates Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, discussed the latest evidence-based strategies, diagnostic considerations and treatment options. Their presentations encouraged interactive dialogue and offered clinicians and students tangible guidance for integrating best practices in osteoporosis management.

Prof. Dr. Tofeeq ur Rehman, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy, commended the speakers, the organising committee and PharmaEvo for their role in making the event successful. He acknowledged PharmaEvo’s ongoing commitment to bridging academia and clinical practice through educational collaborations and public health initiatives that aim to strengthen bone health awareness in local communities.

The session reinforced the need for early screening, patient education and lifestyle modification as part of a comprehensive approach to osteoporosis management, while underscoring the value of partnerships between universities and industry in advancing healthcare outcomes in Pakistan.
