The Quds Free Eye Center, run by the Central Muslim League’s welfare wing, has emerged as a significant source of free eye care in Rawalpindi amid rising costs of treatment. According to the centre’s six-month report covering July to December, the facility delivered free checkups to 4,020 patients and performed 366 successful eye surgeries, offering critical relief to low- and middle-income families.

Quds Free Eye Center also distributed free medicines to 1,470 patients and provided spectacles to 876 deserving individuals, numbers that local leaders say underline the centre’s practical commitment to public health. The data was released at a meeting held at the centre where officials reviewed the recent performance and future plans to broaden services.

Addressing the gathering, Central Muslim League Rawalpindi Secretary General Engineer Mobeen Siddiqui described the Quds Free Eye Center as a beacon for neglected communities struggling with inflation and unaffordable private care. He emphasized that the party’s local politics revolve around service delivery rather than power, and pledged continued support for these welfare initiatives.

Citizens who benefited from the centre praised its services, with beneficiaries including Majid Haseeb, Shabana Kulsoom and Muhammad Arshad thanking the team for restoring their vision. They noted that free medical centres like Quds Free Eye Center play a vital role when private hospitals charge prohibitive fees for routine and surgical eye care.

Irfan ul Haq, chairman of the welfare wing in Rawalpindi, provided a detailed briefing on the centre’s operations and commended the doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers for their round-the-clock efforts. He also outlined a commitment to scale up Quds Free Eye Center services to reach more eligible patients across the city.

The report and the meeting highlighted ongoing plans to expand outreach and maintain quality free treatment, reinforcing the Quds Free Eye Center’s role in improving vision health for underserved populations in Rawalpindi.
