RAWALPINDI: Railway Prem Union (CBA) Central President Sheikh Mohammad Anwar and Central Secretary General Khair Mohammad Tunio have paid tribute to retiring leaders Mohammad Nafees Khan and Mohammad Khan Amazai for their long and valuable services.
Speaking at a retirement ceremony organised by the Prem Union in Rawalpindi in honour of Central Vice President Mohammad Nafees Khan and Divisional Organiser Mohammad Khan Amazai, the union leaders said the two had worked day and night for labourers and had always played a key role in resolving their problems.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr Ishtiaq Irfan. Sheikh Mohammad Anwar and Khair Mohammad Tunio said the hard work and honesty of the retiring leaders would always be remembered and their services for the Railways and workers would be viewed with respect.
They also urged the federal minister for railways to focus on the railway track.
A large number of office-bearers from all zones and workers attended the ceremony. Those present included Abdul Shakoor Abbasi, Khizar Hayat, Rustam Butt, Naveed Bangash, Malik Zahid, Malik Tahir, Chaudhry Nadeem Munir, Nasrullah Bhatta, Chaudhry Shakeel, Junaid Khurram, Ikram Kundi, Lahore Division President Fayyaz Shehzad, Pensioners Association Chairman Younis Jutt, senior leader Syed Zahoor Shah, Coordinator to Governor Punjab Zaheer Khan Khattar, Mehnatkash Union Central President Malik Younis Awan, Ijaz Jadoon, labour leader Mohammad Younis Khattar, Worker Union’s Tahir Bhatti, Mubarak Hussain and social and religious personality Pir Aamir.
The participants paid tribute to Mohammad Nafees Khan and Mohammad Khan Amazai for their services.
Dr Ishtiaq Irfan also appreciated the long services of Mohammad Nafees Khan and Mohammad Khan and said they had played an important role alongside the Prem Union for the resolution of workers’ issues. He said their services would always be remembered.
Addressing the ceremony, Mohammad Nafees Khan and Mohammad Khan thanked President Sheikh Mohammad Anwar, Secretary General Khair Mohammad Tunio, Divisional President Dr Ishtiaq Irfan and the entire Prem Union team.
They appreciated Dr Ishtiaq Irfan’s tireless efforts, sincerity and leadership qualities, saying they had always played their role in resolving the problems of workers and had worked shoulder to shoulder with the union, which would always remain a memorable part of their lives.
On the occasion, Prem Union leader Sheikh Mohammad Anwar and Secretary General Khair Mohammad Tunio also promised to help secure the Shaheed package for Shaheed Malik Shoaib. They appealed to the railway chairman, railway CEO and the federal minister for railways to extend all possible cooperation to his family.
At the end of the ceremony, special prayers were offered for the security of the country and for all those who had passed away.
