Raja Pervez Ashraf Announces Support for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in Follow-Up Meeting with Dr. Rafey Sher
Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and former Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has reaffirmed his full support for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in a follow-up meeting held with Dr. Rafey Sher, who continues to lead efforts addressing the policy challenges faced by FMGs under the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) regulations.
During the meeting, Raja Pervez Ashraf emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always stood shoulder to shoulder with the youth of Pakistan and remains committed to removing barriers that hinder their professional growth. He reiterated that the PPP will continue to advocate for fairness, equal opportunity, and justice for young Pakistani doctors trained abroad, recognizing their potential contribution to strengthening the country’s healthcare system and advancing national development.
Dr. Rafey Sher expressed gratitude to Raja Pervez Ashraf for his consistent support and deep understanding of the FMG issue. He praised the former Prime Minister’s constructive approach and commitment to ensuring that the legitimate concerns of the FMG community reach decision-makers at the highest level.
Dr. Rafey Sher also lauded the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for its continued leadership in championing the cause of FMGs, calling it one of the strongest political supporters of the community. He remarked, “The PPP has always been a people-centered party. Its leadership has once again proven its sincerity by standing with the educated youth of Pakistan. The role of Raja Pervez Ashraf in this effort is deeply appreciated.”
He further highlighted that sustained dialogue and collaboration between policymakers and FMG representatives are vital for achieving fair, transparent, and lasting policy reforms that allow foreign-trained Pakistani doctors to contribute effectively to the national healthcare framework.
