Rawalpindi Board Chairman Inspects Chakwal Marking Centres, Practical Labs

BISE Rawalpindi Chairman Professor Dr Iqbal Mahmood inspected marking centres and practical examination laboratories in Chakwal district.

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi Professor Dr Iqbal Mahmood, accompanied by Controller of Examinations Professor Tanveer Asghar Awan, paid a surprise visit to various marking centres and practical examination laboratories in Chakwal district, according to a press release.

The visit was aimed at reviewing the assessment process of matriculation and intermediate examinations, practical examinations, examination discipline, transparency and implementation of the standard operating procedures issued by the board.

During the visit, the chairman inspected matriculation marking centres established at Government Girls High School No 1 Chakwal and Government Boys High School No 1 Chakwal. He also visited the intermediate marking centre set up at Government Graduate College for Girls Chakwal.

Professor Dr Iqbal Mahmood reviewed the quality of marking, assessment procedure, examination record and administrative arrangements in detail.

He also inspected the ongoing practical examination process in the laboratories of Biology, Computer Science and Geography. The chairman reviewed the available facilities, examination discipline and compliance with the board’s instructions at the laboratories.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman directed head examiners, sub-examiners and practical examiners to perform their examination duties with honesty, impartiality and professional competence. He said there would be no compromise on the SOPs issued by the board.

He made it clear that every candidate should be awarded marks strictly on the basis of academic ability, practical performance and merit. He said the credibility of the examination system and public trust depended on transparent, fair and quality assessment.

The chairman said that in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the zero-tolerance policy of the Punjab government, substandard marking, negligence, partiality or any violation of rules would not be tolerated. Strict disciplinary action would be taken without discrimination against those found involved in such practices, he added.

Professor Dr Iqbal Mahmood reiterated that BISE Rawalpindi would make its monitoring process more effective to ensure transparency, quality, merit and accountability at all stages of examinations, marking and practical assessment so that students could receive results according to their actual ability and public confidence in the examination system could be further strengthened.
