Restaurant and Bakery Owners Raise Concerns Over Gas Supply, Billing, and Service Issues in Meeting with Gas Officials
The president of the Restaurants, Caterers, Sweets & Bakers Association, Muhammad Farooq, has called on authorities to address critical issues related to gas supply and billing for the commercial sector. Speaking at a meeting with Sui Northern Gas officials at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, Farooq emphasized the urgent need to resolve challenges such as insufficient gas supply, security charges, fault volume, and the replacement of EVC meters to alleviate traders’ difficulties.
The gathering brought together a high-level delegation from Sui Northern Gas, led by Deputy Managing Directors Saqib Arbab and Faisal Iqbal, along with Senior General Managers Syed Jawad Naseem and Taj Ali Khan, and General Manager Masum Abrar. The interim president of RCCI, Khalid Farooq Qazi, group leader Sohail Altaf, Vice President Fahad Barlas, and executive committee members from the association also participated.
During the meeting, Muhammad Farooq and other delegation members demanded uninterrupted gas supply to commercial hubs and a reduction in security charges. Chairman Mumtaz Ahmed highlighted concerns regarding high RLNG billing rates and gas line leakages. In response, Sui Northern Gas officials assured the delegation that a project to replace old pipelines is already underway, which will help resolve issues such as leakages, overbilling, and related concerns. They also announced plans to establish a help desk in Rawat Industrial Estate after a detailed survey.
Participants expressed further concerns over low gas pressure, delays in industrial connections, and ongoing service issues. Gas company officials pledged immediate action to resolve these problems and assured continued consultation with stakeholders to ensure improvements in service delivery.
