Rawalpindi Police Lead Archery Tournament and Major Raids

Rawalpindi Police organised an inter-region archery championship and carried out multiple raids recovering narcotics, stolen gold, liquor and weapons. Read details.

An inter-region archery championship was held at Rawalpindi Police Headquarters under directives from IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, with teams from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, PHP Punjab and Telecommunication Punjab competing. The event showcased police personnel participating in sport to develop skills and esprit de corps while promoting physical fitness across the force.

Telecommunication Punjab topped the overall standings after strong performances across categories, taking first place in single male, single women and mixed team events. Gujranwala Region won the men’s team event while Rawalpindi Region secured the women’s team title. Faisalabad Region placed consistently to finish third overall. SP Pothohar Talha Wali presented awards to the podium teams and athletes at the conclusion of the competition.

Rawalpindi Police emphasised that providing sporting opportunities is part of a wider effort to nurture talent within the force and to foster teamwork and discipline among officers and staff.

In separate law enforcement actions, Women Police arrested a domestic worker and her mother in a case of jewellery theft. Officers recovered a gold locket and other pieces valued at over Rs200,000, and traced Rs73,000 in proceeds from sales. A case has been registered and investigation continues with the suspect’s father to be detained soon.

Anti-gambling operations led to the arrest of 13 people across Chaklala and Bani police areas. Chaklala teams detained seven suspects and recovered Rs10,000, four mobile phones and playing cards, while Bani teams arrested six suspects seizing Rs5,360, five mobile phones and cards. Authorities reiterated that those involved in gambling will face legal consequences.

Narcotics teams arrested two alleged suppliers and recovered more than three kilograms of charas in separate raids. Kallar Syedan police recovered 1,775 grams and Chaklala police seized 1,600 grams, with cases registered against the suspects as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate drug networks.

For religious site security, Rawalpindi Police deployed over 400 officers to safeguard churches ahead of services. Station mobiles, Elite Force and Dolphin Force units conducted patrols while senior officers inspected duty rosters and briefed personnel. CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani said protecting citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority and all available resources are being used to that end.

Additional operations in the Dhamial and Ratta Amral areas resulted in six arrests and recovery of 25 litres of illicit liquor along with weapons and ammunition. Divisional SPs confirmed that targeted actions against drug peddlers, illegal arms holders and other criminal elements will continue to ensure public safety in Rawalpindi.
