Rawalpindi police carried out a series of coordinated operations across the district, arresting multiple suspects and seizing drugs, alcohol, illegal weapons and stolen property. The actions, ordered by city leadership as part of a broader drive to curb narcotics and street crime, resulted in several cases being registered and suspects being prepared for court proceedings.
In a focused anti-narcotics campaign, four suspected drug suppliers were arrested and more than 10.7 kilograms of charas (cannabis resin) were recovered from separate locations. Ratta Amral police detained one suspect and seized 5 kilograms, Naseerabad police recovered 2.4 kilograms from another detainee, Wah Cantt police recovered 1.66 kilograms, and Gujar Khan police seized 1.65 kilograms and lodged separate cases. City police officials said the arrests were made on the directions of the Chief Police Officer and that all measures are being taken to eliminate the drug menace.
Newtown police apprehended a suspect linked to street crimes and a string of motorcycle thefts, recovering a stolen motorcycle, Rs 14,000 in cash and weapons from the individual. Rawalpindi’s Senior Police Officer Saad Arshad said the accused will be presented in court with solid evidence and warned that those who deprive citizens of their valuable possessions will not escape the law.
Sol Lines police arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in a dagger attack that injured a civilian. The case dated back to October 2024, and the suspect had gone into hiding. Police tracked and arrested the individual and said he will be forwarded to court with strong evidence, according to SP Pothohar Talha Wali.
Waris Khan police detained a man who placed a bogus emergency call to the police helpline claiming illegal occupation of his land. Officers responding to the call found the dispute was actually over the placement of a parked motorcycle. A case was registered against the caller and he was arrested. SP Saad Arshad emphasized that the emergency “15” helpline is a public service and that misuse will be met with strict action.
Across several stations, seven people were arrested and a total of 87 liters of illicit liquor was seized. Bani police arrested three people and recovered 28 liters, Pirwadhai police detained one person and seized 20 liters, Waris Khan police arrested one person and recovered 20 liters, and Gujar Khan police arrested two people and seized 19 liters. Separate FIRs were registered in each case, and divisional SPs said such operations will continue.
In parallel crackdowns on illegal arms, police detained ten individuals and recovered weapons and ammunition. The raids were conducted in areas including Bani, Ganjmandi, Pirwadhai, Waris Khan, Chaklala, Morgah, Jatli and Kallar Syedan. Divisional police officials reiterated that operations against unlawful weapons possession will be sustained.
Rawalpindi police officials said these actions are part of an ongoing campaign to protect public safety and dismantle criminal networks. They urged continued public support and cooperation as investigations proceed and suspects are brought before the courts.
