CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani has issued comprehensive directives to strengthen Rawalpindi security ahead of the Pakistan versus South Africa Test, with law enforcement deployed across the city to maintain public safety and smooth operations around the stadium.
More than 5,500 Rawalpindi Police officers are assigned to security duties while over 367 officers are specifically tasked with traffic management to facilitate movement for spectators and residents. Senior officers remain in the field to check personnel, provide briefings and coordinate on-ground responses.
Rooftop snipers have been positioned and monitoring is being conducted through Safe City and other CCTV cameras to maintain situational awareness. A dedicated control room has been set up to centralize surveillance and command functions for the match.
Mobile units from local police stations along with Elite and Dolphin squads are patrolling the areas around the stadium to deter incidents and ensure a rapid response if needed. The focus on Rawalpindi security includes targeted traffic measures to help citizens reach their destinations with minimal disruption.
CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani emphasized that foolproof security and traffic arrangements are being implemented to ensure a safe and orderly Test match environment, a position reinforced by the Rawalpindi Police spokesperson.
