The All-Pakistan Women Rowing Championship 2025–2026 concluded at Rawalpindi Women University with a thrilling finish as the University of Lahore claimed the gold medal and trophy, Punjab University secured second place and Lahore Garrison University finished third.
Mishaal Hussain Malik, the Chief Guest and chairperson of the Organization for Peace and Culture, praised the exceptional talent of Pakistani women in sports and beyond and commended RWU for hosting the championship. She noted that the growing participation in women rowing events marks a positive shift in Pakistan’s sports culture and highlighted her own connection to the sport, saying rowing builds discipline, teamwork, resilience and confidence that help young athletes face challenges with courage and determination.
Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, Vice Chancellor of Rawalpindi Women University, congratulated the winning teams and reiterated that a university’s identity is reflected in the environment it provides to students. She affirmed RWU’s commitment to nurturing critical thinking, leadership skills and a healthy competitive spirit, and said the institution will continue to provide platforms where education, research and sports complement each other to empower women to excel.
The event recorded the highest participation to date, with teams from 21 universities competing in multiple categories. Competitors took part across distances and formats in women rowing, including 2000m open weight single, 1000m double lightweight, 500m open weight, 500m relay and 1000m double open weight, showcasing depth and diversity in the field.
Dr. Huma Fawad, Additional Registrar, thanked the guests, the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Rowing Federation, as well as all participating teams and Organizing Secretary Ms. Sadaf Parveen for their efforts in making the event successful. Representatives from HEC, the President of the Pakistan Rowing Federation and directors and managers from universities across the country attended the closing ceremony, where shields were presented to guests, the Director Sports and event organizers.
