The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board‘s food branch recently took action against illegal slaughterhouses in various parts of the cantonment. On Thursday, the food branch staff under the supervision of Food In charge Haroon Zafer seized more than 1000 kg of unhygienic meat from these illegal slaughterhouses and promptly disposed of it. The meat was intended to be supplied to several restaurants in the area, but the food branch staff prevented this from happening.

According to reports, the food branch staff received complaints about the sale of carrion in different parts of the city. Upon investigation, they discovered that several illegal slaughterhouses in Chur Chowk, Westridge, Naseerabad, Allahabad, Saddar, Misrial Road, Allama Iqbal Colony, Burf Khana Chowk, and Bakra Mandi were involved in this illegal activity. The food inspector then checked the meat from these slaughterhouses and found it to be substandard.

To prevent the consumption of this unhygienic meat, the food branch staff confiscated it and destroyed it by burning it along Leh Nullah. This action by the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board is a necessary step in ensuring that the public is protected from unhygienic and unsafe food.

In addition to seizing and destroying unhygienic meat from illegal slaughterhouses, it is also important to raise awareness among the public about the dangers of consuming such meat. This can be done through education campaigns and by encouraging people to only purchase meat from trusted and reputable sources.

Furthermore, it is crucial to take legal action against those involved in the illegal sale of meat from unlicensed slaughterhouses. This will not only deter others from engaging in similar activities but will also help to ensure that the public is protected from the health risks associated with consuming unhygienic meat.

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board should continue to conduct regular inspections of slaughterhouses to prevent the sale of unhygienic meat. This will help to ensure that only safe and high-quality meat is being sold to the public.
