RDA to establish Misriot Dam Park at Dhamiyal Forest to protect greenery, prevent encroachment and offer picnic spots and walking tracks for Rawalpindi residents.

At the direction of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Abdul Amir Khatak, the Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority chaired a joint site meeting at Misriot Dream to discuss preservation and development of Misriot Dam and the adjacent Dhamiyal Forest Land. Representatives from the Forest Department, Irrigation Department, Environment Department, Parks and Horticulture Authority, RDA and the project consultant attended the session to review next steps.

The meeting focused on establishing a public park to preserve the natural beauty of the area, protect forest land from encroachment and provide quality recreational facilities for local families. Plans for the Misriot Dam Park include picnic spots, walking tracks and nature-friendly spaces designed to encourage outdoor activity while minimizing environmental impact.

Kinza Murtaza, Director General RDA, said the initiative will safeguard the ecological environment and enhance public welfare by creating a sustainable green space for Rawalpindi residents. The Misriot Dam Park is being positioned as both a conservation effort and a community amenity to meet growing demand for accessible outdoor recreation.

Following the meeting, RDA officials confirmed they will coordinate closely with relevant departments and the project consultant to move the proposal forward, with protecting the forest land and preventing illegal encroachments remaining top priorities as the park plan is developed.
