RDA collaborates with Mott McDonald to formulate 25-year Master Plan for Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi : The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has employed Mott McDonald Pakistan Company to identify the new urban limits peri-urban structure plan and site development zone in Rawalpindi, as directed by RDA’s Director General, Saif Anwar Jappa. With this partnership, different zones, such as green, residential, industrial, and agro-farm, have been recommended for the next 25 years.

The RDA spokesperson explained that the authority has formulated a 25-year planning document for Master Plan Rawalpindi, including Gujjar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, and Kahuta areas, housing schemes, industrial areas, and central business areas.

The housing societies and industrial areas cannot be established outside the site development zone, as mandated by the government, and the areas outside the site development zones will be reserved for agriculture and the environment.

The RDA conducted meetings with all stakeholders in the four tehsils (Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, and Kahota), as well as with Assistant Commissioners from each tehsil, and provided copies of the proposed maps to assistant commissioners for discussion with local stakeholders and the general public, with directions to display them in tehsil offices.

The peri-urban structure plan has been made available on RDA’s website, and the public has been encouraged to submit any objections or suggestions to the offices of the Director Town Planner Mohammad Tahir Meo and assistant commissioners in the next ten days to be included in the plan.
