RDA reviews illegal private housing schemes, warns against investment

illegal Private Housing Schemes

Meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Director General of Rawalpindi Development Authority, Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, to review illegal private housing schemes. The meeting also discussed illegal land conversion, sub-division, and illegal advertisements and marketing, and it was decided that strict action will be taken against such schemes. The DG RDA directed to monitor the functioning of illegal housing schemes regularly.

The DG RDA has ordered to send request/information letters against the owners of private housing schemes to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to inform them about illegal advertisements of such schemes on social media platforms. It has been warned that without obtaining the required NOC from the RDA, it is illegal to start housing schemes, apartment projects, and commercial buildings in areas under the control of the RDA. Advertising, marketing, and development of such projects by advertising agencies, private limited companies, civil proprietorship, etc., are also illegal.

The RDA advises the general public not to invest in illegal housing schemes and to check with the RDA before investing in any housing scheme. The DG RDA has requested the public to be cautious in making any investment in illegal and unauthorized housing schemes. The sponsors have also been cautioned to immediately stop marketing their unapproved and illegal housing schemes and to approach RDA to obtain NOC approval of the scheme as per law. Otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against them to protect the public from fraud. The RDA website www.rda.gop.pk can be checked for information.
