The emergency response team managed a variety of incidents, including medical crises, traffic accidents, fire emergencies, and cases linked to criminal activity, demonstrating their critical role in the community.
Medical emergencies dominated the calls for help, with more than 4,400 cases ranging from chronic health issues to sudden medical events that required immediate intervention. This high volume indicates both the heavy reliance of the local population on emergency services and the ongoing health challenges in the area.
Road traffic accidents formed the second largest category, with over 1,300 reported incidents. The consistent frequency of such accidents highlights the strain placed on emergency resources and underscores the urgent need for improved road safety and greater public awareness.
Rescue 1122 also responded to nearly 900 miscellaneous emergencies and close to 300 cases where people suffered falls or slips—a situation that often affects children and the elderly. Additionally, almost 160 responses involved crime-related emergencies, requiring the coordination of emergency personnel with law enforcement.
While the numbers for major incidents and drowning cases remained comparatively low at a dozen each, these events demanded specialized rescue operations and quick deployment of resources. Fire emergencies, totaling 84 for the month, are less common but can be highly dangerous and necessitate complex response efforts.
Structural collapses accounted for a smaller number of cases—just seven—but typically involve significant risk and challenging conditions for rescuers. Despite the complexities, Rescue 1122 managed to respond effectively to all types of emergencies.
The department reported that all 8,151 patients involved in these incidents were successfully rescued, a testament to the skill, efficiency, and dedication of Rescue 1122 personnel. Their timely action played a vital role in saving lives and minimizing harm throughout Rawalpindi.
