A delegation of European ambassadors visited Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to discuss enhanced cooperation on disaster preparedness, response, and resilience. The meeting brought together heads of mission from Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine, resulting in a proposal to formalize collaboration between Pakistan and Romania.
During the visit, the diplomats engaged in a constructive exchange of ideas and best practices, underscoring the importance of learning from each other’s experiences in addressing natural disasters. The Romanian ambassador, speaking on behalf of his country, announced an initiative to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the General Directorate for Civil Protection of Romania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Pakistan’s NDMA. This agreement aims to solidify cooperation and lay the framework for mutual support during crisis situations.
The Romanian envoy reaffirmed his country’s solidarity with Pakistan as the nation faces increasing challenges from natural disasters, highlighting the value of international partnerships in strengthening disaster management capabilities.
