The National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad today inaugurated the first Romanian Studies program, an initiative launched by the Embassy of Romania in Pakistan together with the Institute of the Romanian Language in partnership with NUML. Dan Stoenescu participated in the inauguration, marking a milestone in educational collaboration between Pakistan and Romania.

The new Romanian Studies curriculum blends language instruction with exploration of literature, history, translation and broader cultural studies, giving Pakistani students direct access to the Romanian language and scholarly resources. By integrating these disciplines, the program aims to build a lasting academic and cultural bridge between South Asia and Central and Eastern Europe.

The Embassy of Romania also donated a collection of books on Romanian culture and history to NUML, with support from the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, enriching the university’s resources for the Romanian Studies program. Coordinated by Dr. Oana Ursache, the program is expected to strengthen academic cooperation and deepen cultural ties between Romania and Pakistan through student exchanges, research and translation projects.
