Young athletes and student sportsmen in Chakwal have launched the Rural Sports Equity Club to champion equal sporting opportunities for players from rural communities. The initiative, led by Abdul Muizz alongside a group of committed students and sports enthusiasts, aims to ensure that talent and commitment determine success rather than privilege.
The club’s mission rests on three guiding principles: equal access, sports development and positive youth engagement. Muizz emphasized that the Rural Sports Equity group will work to narrow the resource gap between urban and rural athletes by creating local platforms and training opportunities.
As a first milestone, the club organised the Chakwal Smash League 2025 on October 17 at the Gymnasium Hall, Chakwal. The tournament attracted enthusiastic participation from young players and supporters across the district, and the organising team of Abdul Muizz, Muhammad Hadi Hussain and Abdullah Abbas managed the event with professionalism and teamwork that reflected the club’s values.
Renowned sports figure Tehzeeb Haider Maingan served as mentor to the organisers, offering guidance and on-ground support that helped shape the league into a well-structured competition. Local business figures also attended, with Wasif Mahmood, owner of Al-Saliha Pharmacy on Talagang Road, and sponsor Kashi Kahoot Murid noted for his tape-ball cricket support, joining as chief guests and commending the youth-led effort.
Both guests praised the organisers and urged schools, local authorities and businesses to back similar grassroots initiatives. The Rural Sports Equity Club now plans to expand its reach by organising inter-village and inter-district tournaments, talent camps and awareness drives across Chakwal and neighbouring areas to build a more inclusive sporting ecosystem.
