Russia Malaysia cooperation moves forward as Overchuk meets Anvar Ibrahim to boost trade, energy, agriculture and transport links for Eurasian supply chains.

Alexey Overchuk met Malaysian Prime Minister Anvar Ibrahim and congratulated the Malaysian side on its successful chairmanship of ASEAN and the adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, which will guide the association’s development for the next two decades and enhance its role in regional processes.

Officials noted that cooperation between Russia and Malaysia in both bilateral and multilateral formats rests on principles of mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests. Observing these principles, the two sides said, creates better conditions for deepening long-term partnerships and strengthening trade interconnection.

The meeting focused on current items on the bilateral Russia Malaysia agenda, including trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation. Special attention was given to advancing projects in energy and agriculture and to joint efforts to strengthen transport linkage between Russia and Malaysia to develop new supply chains between the north and south of Eurasia.

Both delegations emphasized the practical steps needed to implement agreed projects and noted that sustained Russia Malaysia engagement can contribute to greater sustainability and connectivity across the region while supporting broader cooperation frameworks.
