Russian Delegation Visits FUUAST Islamabad

Russian delegation met FUUAST Islamabad to discuss Russian language courses, student and faculty exchanges and access to Russian scholarships.

A delegation from the Russian Federation visited the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology Islamabad to explore academic and cultural collaboration. The group was led by Mr Ruslan Prokhorov, Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture and Vice Consul General of the Russian Federation in Karachi, and included his wife Dr Natalia Zhadvotes, Professor Roman Prozov of Ural State Pedagogical University, Mr Gleb Shubin, Cultural Attaché at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, and a Russian language instructor, Ms Ekaterina.

During discussions with Dr Saba Bashir, Incharge Campus at FUUAST Islamabad, the Russian delegation outlined potential cooperation in several areas including the introduction of Russian language classes at the Islamabad campus, the launch of student and faculty exchange programmes, and granting Pakistani students access to Russian government scholarships. Representatives examined how these initiatives could be implemented to broaden academic options for local students.

Senior university officials including Dr Faisal Jevaid, Head of the Department of International Relations and Mass Communication, and Mr Aleem Ch, Additional Registrar, attended the meeting and expressed keen interest in strengthening academic linkages with Russian institutions. Following the meeting the visitors held an awareness session for students on How to Get the Russian Government Scholarship, providing practical guidance for applicants and outlining scholarship opportunities available to Pakistani students.

The visit by the Russian delegation marks a step towards deeper educational and cultural ties between FUUAST and Russian universities, with the potential to expand language learning, exchanges and scholarship access for students in Islamabad and across Pakistan.
