Russian Energy Week 2025 highlighted resilience and global partnerships with 7,000 delegates from 100 countries and showcased Russia's Energy Strategy to 2050.

Russian Energy Week 2025 was held in Moscow from October 15 to 17 and attracted more than 7,000 participants from 100 countries, including representatives of major companies, government authorities, international organisations and leading experts in the fuel and energy complex. The forum theme, “Creating the Energy of the Future Together”, framed discussions on cooperation, investment and technology.

The plenary meeting with the participation of President V.V. Putin stressed that the industry has maintained a leading position under sanctions pressure, demonstrating resilience, technological mobilisation and forming a new investment cycle based on domestic resources and international partnership. In his address Mr Putin said, “Russia intends to strengthen its position as a world energy leader, develop partnerships in order to build a fair and sustainable global energy model in the interests of future generations.”

The business programme was structured around the recently adopted Energy Strategy of Russia until 2050 and included tracks on oil, gas and coal, digitalisation, logistics, the climate agenda and scientific and technological development. The opening session “Global Energy Markets: Transforming Relations and Balance of Interests” featured the Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak, OPEC Secretary General Haisam Al Gais, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, FSEG General Secretary Mohamed Hamel and other industry leaders.

Dozens of panel discussions, strategy sessions and meetings brought together company chiefs, ministers and experts from Russia, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Hungary and other countries. During REN2025 a large-scale technology exhibition for thermal power and energy companies showcased the work of more than 50 leading firms from Russia and abroad, while the international Global Energy and Pen Energy awards were presented during the forum.

For Pakistan the developments at Russian Energy Week are noteworthy: the forum’s focus on resilience, technological mobilisation and a new investment cycle based on domestic resources and international partnership offers potential lessons and collaboration opportunities, particularly in digitalisation, logistics and climate-related technologies that Pakistani policymakers and industry stakeholders may wish to monitor.
