Ambassador Nicolas Galey, joined by Economic Counsellor Laurent Chopiton, visited the Islamabad premises of Schlumberger Pakistan to meet company leadership and discuss the firm’s enduring role in Pakistan and its ties with France.
Although Schlumberger operates globally, its French origins remain visible through connections such as the company’s global R&D centre in Clamart. Schlumberger Pakistan recently marked its 75th year in the country and now delivers a full portfolio across Oil & Gas, Digital Solutions and New Energy, including energy storage, bioenergy, geothermal and geoenergy, CCS, hydrogen and lithium.
Schlumberger Pakistan provides advanced services to major local players including OGDC and Pakistan Petroleum Limited, and the visit featured a focused exchange on how digital transformation is reshaping operations and efficiency in the energy sector.
Discussions also covered mining opportunities in Pakistan and the importance of the French language for professional and academic links. The Ambassador and company teams explored study and career prospects in France for Pakistani engineers and researchers as part of broader people-to-people and economic cooperation.
The visit concluded with thanks to Schlumberger’s CEO and teams for hosting the delegation and for reiterating strong commitments to energy transition and corporate social responsibility that align with French economic diplomacy and Pakistan’s evolving energy landscape.
