Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening international cooperation and friendship during a meeting with Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), at the People’s Assembly House in Beijing. The meeting took place as part of a ceremony where newly appointed ambassadors from various countries presented their credentials.
During the meeting, Secretary General Yermekbayev expressed gratitude for the trust and support shown by President Xi and other SCO member states. President Xi, in turn, voiced strong support for the SCO’s broad activities, underscoring their importance for regional stability and development.
Following the formal discussions, President Xi delivered a welcoming address to all attending diplomats. He highlighted China’s significant achievements in socio-economic development and reiterated the nation’s readiness to foster deeper ties and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with countries around the world. President Xi urged ambassadors and SCO representatives to work towards a comprehensive understanding of China, encouraging them to serve as envoys of friendship and bridges of cooperation between their countries and China.
The event was attended by ambassadors from a wide range of nations, including Vietnam, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Albania, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Angola, Egypt, Nicaragua, Iran, Chile, Ukraine, Benin, the United States, Israel, and South Sudan. As a mark of respect, Nurlan Yermekbayev also inscribed a message in the honored guests’ book at the House of National Assemblies, commemorating the occasion.
