The 8th China International Import Exhibition and the Hunxiao Economic Forum have opened in Shanghai in the presence of Prime Minister of the State Council of China Li Qian, with a delegation from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization led by Deputy Secretary-General Batyr Tursunov in attendance.

The China Import Expo brought together leading companies and enterprises from more than 50 countries, including SCO member states, offering broad opportunities to present products, technologies and services to the Chinese market. Organizers highlighted the exhibition as a platform to deepen trade ties and expand market access for participating firms.

On the exhibition fields, Batyr Tursunov held a working meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the People’s Government of the Autonomous District Inner Mongolia Yang Jinem. Both sides noted the growing international standing of the SCO and the strong engagement of the Chinese side across the Organization’s activities.

Delegates emphasized mutual interest in expanding cooperation in energy sectors, including renewables, as well as ecology, agriculture, and livestock production and processing. Participants expressed readiness to facilitate the realization of promising joint projects, particularly as preparations continue toward the SCO 25th anniversary in 2026.

For Pakistani policymakers and businesses watching the China Import Expo, the discussions signal potential avenues for collaboration in energy, agricultural value chains and environmental projects with partners across the SCO. The expo provides a timely forum for exploring joint ventures and market entry strategies into China and other member state markets.

The exhibition will run until November 10, 2025, offering additional days for networking, bilateral meetings and advancing the joint project initiatives discussed during the forum.
