SCO Observers Meet CIS Mission on Kyrgyz Elections

SCO observers met CIS counterparts on Nov 29 to coordinate monitoring of Kyrgyzstan's early parliamentary elections and agreed to keep close working contacts.

On November 29, 2025, a delegation led by Piao Yanfan, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and head of the SCO observers mission, held talks with Igor Petrishenko, First Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States and head of the CIS observers mission, ahead of the early parliamentary elections for the Zhogorkk Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The two sides exchanged information on the activities of their respective observer groups that are monitoring preparations and the conduct of the elections and discussed practical issues to ensure effective interaction between the associations. Both delegations agreed that maintaining close working contacts would support coherent observation efforts and timely information sharing during the electoral period.

Also on the same day, Piao Yanfan held a separate conversation with observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to further align coordination measures. The meetings underscore ongoing cooperation between SCO observers and CIS counterparts as they prepare to observe the early parliamentary vote in Kyrgyzstan.
