SCO Youth Council Unites Young Leaders in Beijing

The 18th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Youth Council was held at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing, chaired by the All-China Youth Federation. The event brought together leaders of youth movements from SCO member states, who discussed ongoing youth support initiatives in their respective countries, shared perspectives on various areas of cooperation, and presented new projects and proposals.

Batyr Tursunov, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, delivered welcoming remarks to the participants. He emphasized the organization’s strong commitment to fostering youth cooperation, identifying it as a strategic priority. Tursunov highlighted that heads of SCO member states consistently affirm the importance of educating and nurturing the younger generation in a spirit of patriotism, morality, tolerance, and mutual respect. He also noted the particular attention given to youth employment, as well as efforts to shield young people from negative influences.

Speakers underlined the Youth Council’s pivotal role as a key platform for implementing SCO decisions related to youth issues. In this context, the importance of intensifying the Council’s activities was recognized, with an emphasis on uniting young people from SCO member states around the principles of the “Shanghai Spirit.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, the chairmanship of the SCO Youth Council passed from the People’s Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic.
