A ceremony in Peshawar on Wednesday marked the successful conclusion of the Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED) program run with support from the United Kingdom. The event gathered provincial ministers, senior government officials, representatives from universities, civil society and other institutions to recognise the programme’s completion and the partnerships it fostered.

The guest of honour at the event was the provincial minister for Local Government, Elections and Rural Development, Arshad Ayub Khan, whose attendance highlighted provincial support for the SEED program’s objectives. Provincial ministers and departmental officials were also present to acknowledge the collaborative effort.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott attended the ceremony, underlining the role of UK collaboration in the initiative. The Secretary of the Planning and Development Department was also in attendance, reflecting government engagement at multiple levels.

University leaders, civil society representatives and other institutional participants used the occasion to reflect on the SEED program’s achievements and to discuss how its lessons and partnerships can inform future sustainable energy and economic development efforts in the region.
