IRI-IIUI Highlights Seerat Publications at Conference

The Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) showcased its Sīrah-focused publications at the Qur’ān and Sīrah Exhibition held alongside the International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference, highlighting the institute’s efforts to connect classical Sīrah scholarship with contemporary challenges such as education and digital ethics. The exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, provided a forum for academic and government bodies to discuss moral and educational responsibilities in the digital age.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf. The conference theme called attention to state responsibilities in training and education for the positive use of social media in light of the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad, framing the exhibition’s focus on scholarship that informs public policy and civic behavior.

IRI’s delegation to the exhibition was led by Dr. Sohail Khan, In-charge of the IRI Publications Section, and included Hameed Nasir, Dr. Muhammad Amjad Kallu, and Moheb Khan. The institute presented a range of research-based publications, including monographs, edited volumes, and journals dedicated to Sīrah studies, emphasizing rigorous scholarship and contemporary relevance.

During his visit to the IRI stall, the Federal Minister was briefed on the institute’s recent and flagship works. Dr. Khan explained that IRI publications aim to bridge classical Sīrah teachings with present-day issues, particularly in the fields of education and digital ethics, offering historical perspectives that can inform responsible conduct online.

Minister Yousaf praised IRI’s contribution to promoting authentic Islamic teachings and underscored the importance of research that guides the responsible use of social media in accordance with Seerah principles. He emphasized the role of scholarly work in shaping policies and public understanding.

IRI’s participation at the exhibition reflected IIUI’s broader mission to address contemporary societal challenges through academic research. The event served as a platform for sharing resources and perspectives among academic and governmental institutions on how moral and educational frameworks can be applied to the digital era.
