A six-member Senate delegation led by Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate, has arrived at United Nations headquarters in New York to take part in the 2026 IPU Parliamentary Hearing.
The Senate delegation will be engaged in sessions across February 12 and 13, participating in policy discussions and parliamentary exchanges organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union at the UN headquarters.
During the inaugural session the Chairman Senate will deliver Pakistan’s national statement on the theme “The UN at 80: Renewing trust and purpose through cooperation and partnership,” outlining Islamabad’s views on strengthening multilateralism and parliamentary engagement.
On the sidelines of the annual parliamentary hearing, the Chairman Senate is scheduled to meet with the President of the UN General Assembly and the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to discuss areas of mutual interest and to reinforce parliamentary cooperation.
The Senate delegation’s presence at the UN underlines Pakistan’s commitment to active participation in international parliamentary forums and to advancing cooperative solutions within the UN system.
