A high-level Senate delegation from Pakistan concluded a three-day visit to Kigali, Rwanda, from October 13 to 15, 2025, aimed at deepening Pakistan Rwanda ties. The delegation was led by Senator Kamran Murtaza, convener of the Pakistan-Rwanda Friendship Group, and included Senators Bushra Anjum Butt and Jan Muhammad.
During meetings with members of the Rwandan Parliament and senior officials, the senators engaged in substantive discussions to expand cooperation in trade, education, technology, agriculture and parliamentary exchange. The talks emphasized parliamentary diplomacy as an effective channel to strengthen people-to-people links and to facilitate policy and development partnerships between the two countries.
The visit reinforced Pakistan’s Engage Africa policy and expressed admiration for Rwanda’s recovery, unity and nation-building efforts. Senator Kamran Murtaza observed, “This visit is a testament to the growing friendship between Pakistan and Rwanda. We are confident that our countries, though geographically distant, are deeply connected by shared aspirations for peace, progress, and prosperity.”
Senators noted recent momentum in bilateral relations, including the establishment of High Commissions in both capitals, ministerial exchanges and the signing of memorandums of understanding on diplomatic training, trade facilitation and political consultations. These steps were highlighted as practical foundations for sustained parliamentary and governmental cooperation.
The delegation identified new avenues for collaboration in digital innovation, student and academic exchanges, trade in agricultural goods and pharmaceuticals, and sports cooperation with soccer cited as a potential connector for youth engagement. Pakistan reaffirmed its readiness to host future parliamentary exchanges and to advance a shared agenda of South–South cooperation and development that will further cement Pakistan Rwanda ties.
