SHARP and Norwegian Embassy Strengthen Collaboration on Refugee Protection and Humanitarian Efforts

The Society for Human Rights and Prisoners’ Aid (SHARP) and the Royal Norwegian Embassy have reinforced their partnership to advance refugee protection initiatives and humanitarian cooperation. The two organizations discussed strategies to address pressing issues such as gender-based violence, human trafficking, and access to justice for refugees, underscoring the importance of international alliances in responding effectively to global humanitarian challenges.

During a recent high-level visit, a delegation from the Norwegian Embassy — including Ms. Zara Kurtovic, Second Secretary & Special Advisor (Integration), and Mr. Abdur, Second Secretary — was received by SHARP CEO Mudassar Javed and his program team. The delegation toured the SHARP Reception Desk Center (RDC), gaining comprehensive insights into the organization’s operational structures, security measures, and core service delivery processes designed to support vulnerable populations with dignity and efficiency.

A focused meeting followed the tour, where both parties reviewed SHARP’s broader protection agenda and discussed avenues for international cooperation. CEO Mudassar Javed, supported by Program Officer Ms. Tayba Hafeez, Lawyer Ms. Ayesha, and Research Assistant Ms. Samman Aman, highlighted SHARP’s proactive engagement with global partners on critical issues affecting refugees. The discussions emphasized the urgent need to strengthen judicial mechanisms, particularly for refugees arriving from neighboring countries, and to intensify action against gender-based violence and human trafficking.

The Norwegian Embassy delegation was also briefed on SHARP’s ongoing advocacy for transparent and inclusive justice systems rooted in human rights principles across the region. Both sides acknowledged the pivotal role of global partnerships in advancing humanitarian responses and ensuring equitable access to justice for affected communities.

Reaffirming its commitment, SHARP pledged to expand legal aid services for Afghan refugees through grassroots outreach, dedicated helplines, and field initiatives. The organization’s community mobilizers aim to guarantee timely and inclusive support, ensuring that the most vulnerable receive the protection and assistance they need.
