On January 28, Ambassador Albert P. Khorev and Russian Trade Representative Denis Nevzorov met with Hassan Ali Bhatti, the Chairman of Sialkot International Airport, at his secretariat to discuss the resumption of direct air links between the two countries.
The discussion focused on restoring direct connectivity and explored how renewed services could support travel and commerce. Officials described the talks as constructive, with an eye on practical steps to revive scheduled services and simplify bilateral travel arrangements.
Ambassador Khorev praised the infrastructure at Pakistan’s first private international airport, noting its readiness to handle increased traffic. The comments underscored Sialkot International Airport’s strategic role should plans to resume Russia Pakistan flights move forward.
Local stakeholders welcomed the dialogue as a positive signal for improving connectivity and strengthening ties between Pakistan and Russia, while both sides signalled interest in continuing technical and commercial discussions.
