The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that the 50th International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference will be held with special arrangements this year, focusing on educating the younger generation about Islamic teachings and the life of Prophet Muhammad. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf chaired a meeting to review preparations for the prestigious event, highlighting its significance in promoting awareness of the Prophet’s life and message.
This year’s conference holds particular importance as it coincides with the 1500th anniversary of the Prophet’s birth, a milestone also being observed by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation under the theme “Prophet of Mercy”. In line with these celebrations, the Ministry has launched a nationwide program to organize Seerat gatherings and Na’at recitals both at the provincial and local levels, as part of the “Ashra Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen” initiative.
The main topic of the conference will focus on the role of the state in teaching the positive use of social media in light of the Prophet’s teachings. In preparation, the Ministry previously announced Seerat essay competitions, and cash prizes will be awarded to the writers of the best essays, as well as to authors of notable books on Seerat and Na’at. Selected works will be compiled and published to inform policymakers and raise awareness among the youth.
The Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to encouraging scholars who write about the Prophet’s life and teachings. The upcoming conference is expected to attract prominent religious figures and scholars from Pakistan and abroad. The review meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary for Religious Affairs Dr. Syed Atta-Ur-Rehman, Additional Secretary Dr. Sajid Mehmood Chauhan, and other senior officials.
