Solano Leads Pakistan Football as New Head Coach

Nolberto Solano, the former Peruvian international footballer and experienced coach, has officially taken charge as the new Head Coach of Pakistan’s Men’s National Team and the U23 squad. Solano’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Pakistan football, as officials express confidence that his leadership will help strengthen both teams and foster the growth of the sport in the country.

Upon his arrival at the Pakistan Football Federation headquarters in Lahore, Solano was welcomed by Acting General Secretary Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar and introduced to the staff. In his first statement as Head Coach, Solano emphasized his commitment to developing the potential of Pakistani players and underscored the importance of unity and discipline for the national teams. He stressed that while the challenge ahead is considerable, hard work both on and off the pitch will be essential to achieving success.

Solano’s immediate focus is preparing the teams for the upcoming AFC U23 qualifiers in Cambodia. He highlighted the need for mental strength, selection of the best players, and purposeful play, stating that qualification would be a proud moment for the nation. Solano also thanked the PFF president for the opportunity and expressed his eagerness to contribute to the advancement of football in Pakistan.

PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani voiced strong support for Solano, praising his experience and vision as valuable assets for taking Pakistan football forward. Acting General Secretary Muhammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar echoed these sentiments, describing Solano’s arrival as a major step toward building a more competitive national football structure.
