Islamabad, October 3, 2025 — Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended his congratulations to the newly elected executive body of the Parliamentary Reporters Association Pakistan (PRAP), acknowledging the confidence placed in the team by fellow parliamentary reporters. The Speaker named the elected officeholders, congratulating M B Somro as President, Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar as Vice President, Naveed Akbar as Secretary, Orangzeb Kakar as Joint Secretary, Shakir Abbasi as Finance Secretary and Javed Hussain as Information Secretary, and welcomed governing body members Asiya Ansar, Ahmed Nawaz Khan, Hafiz Abdul Majid, Umar Hayat Khan, Javed Noor, Ghulam Rasool Kunbhar and Rozina Ali.
The Speaker said the orderly conduct of PRAP elections reflects strong democratic traditions and the unity of parliamentary reporters. He noted that the success of the new team is a sign of the trust reporters have placed in their leadership and expressed hope that the executive body will actively address the practical challenges faced by parliamentary journalists while enhancing their professional role in covering the legislature.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underlined the central role of the press gallery as a bridge between parliamentary proceedings and the public, stressing that parliamentary reporters play a key role in highlighting citizens’ concerns and conveying legislative work to the wider audience. He urged the new PRAP leadership to continue strengthening the gallery’s contribution to transparent reporting from the National Assembly.
The National Assembly Secretariat assured the association of full cooperation, with the Speaker reaffirming the Secretariat’s longstanding close and constructive relationship with PRAP.
