Senior government officials visited the Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Developmental Disorders (RCCDD) in Islamabad to review ongoing initiatives and plans aimed at enhancing support for children with special needs. The visit focused on improving rehabilitation services, expanding infrastructure, and introducing new specialized facilities.
Mr. Awais Manzur Sumra, Secretary for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, along with Mrs. Nasheeta Maryam Mohsin, Special Secretary at the Finance Division, toured the RCCDD, which operates under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The officials examined the proposed site for a new Autism Center and inaugurated several newly established facilities, including speech therapy rooms, a sensory room, and soft rooms designed to cater to children with developmental disorders.
During their visit, the officials observed classroom activities tailored to support the unique educational and therapeutic needs of these children. They received a comprehensive briefing on the recently approved plan for the Autism Center and learned about the broader strategy to strengthen special education institutions in Islamabad.
Key elements of the roadmap include enhancing rehabilitation services, upgrading infrastructure, and recruiting specialized professionals to further improve the quality of care and education offered to children with developmental disorders. The officials expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive education and advancing services for these children in the federal capital.
