On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Parliamentary Secretary for HUD&PHE Sultan Bajwa visited the Rawalpindi Development Authority where he chaired a meeting on major urban projects. Director General RDA Kinza Murtaza presented a detailed briefing on ongoing work, recent achievements and future planning to strengthen Rawalpindi development and city services.
The briefing covered flagship initiatives including the Rawalpindi Ring Road and the Nullah Lai Project, rehabilitation plans for the Metro Bus Corridor and proposed schemes such as the rehabilitation of Murree Road from Flashman to Faizabad. The DG also outlined plans for construction of joint check posts at Adyala Road, Koral Chowk and Chur Chowk along with other infrastructure measures intended to improve traffic management and urban mobility.
Kinza Murtaza provided an update on approved, unapproved and illegal housing schemes across the district and affirmed that RDA is taking strict action against illegal developments. The Authority reiterated its commitment to transparent regulation and enforcement as part of broader efforts to ensure sustainable Rawalpindi development and protect residents.
Parliamentary Secretary Sultan Bajwa praised the RDA team for accelerating urban projects and tackling civic issues, while stressing the need for sustainable growth, environmental safeguards and enhanced civic infrastructure. He directed officials to prioritise effective urban planning, expedite project timelines and strengthen inter-departmental coordination so public interest remains central to all development activities.
Those present included Director Engineering Muhammad Anwar Baran, Director Administration Iftikhar Ahmad, Director Land Ghazafar Ali Awan, Director Estate Management Aabgeena and Deputy Director Engineering Muhammad Kamran Chaudhry, among other senior officers who will support timely implementation of the RDA agenda.
