Fistula repair training by UNFPA Pakistan and Koohi Goth equips surgeons from Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh with life-changing skills.

UNFPA Pakistan, together with Koohi Goth Hospital and regional partners, has launched the first-ever International Surgeons Training on fistula repair in the Asia-Pacific region, a South-South initiative focused on women living with obstetric fistula across South and South West Asia.

The programme brings surgeons from Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh to learn specialised surgical techniques and post-operative care. By strengthening clinical skills at the regional level, the training aims to restore health and dignity to women affected by obstetric fistula and enable those surgeons to deliver improved care in their home healthcare systems.

Organisers underline that this initiative equips participating surgeons with practical, life-changing skills that can be replicated across the region, reinforcing collaboration between medical centres and offering renewed hope to women seeking repair and recovery.
