Sweden backs civil society in Pakistan to tackle online abuse, supporting shelters, helplines and legal aid for women and girls.

There is no excuse for online abuse, the Swedish embassy in Islamabad said, highlighting the vital role civil society organisations play in protecting women and girls across Pakistan.

Groups such as National Commission for the Rights of the Child and AGHS Legal Aid Cell provide shelters, helplines and online support networks, offering guidance and legal assistance to survivors of online abuse and helping them navigate reporting and protection processes.

Their combined work to create safer digital spaces and extend offline protection helps ensure women and girls can speak, participate and lead without fear, a message amplified during the 16 Days campaign.

Sweden reiterated its support for these organisations and called for stronger access to legal routes and community-based services so incidents of online abuse are reported, addressed and prevented across Pakistan.
