The Embassy of Sweden in Pakistan marked the International Day of the Girl by highlighting the aspirations of young girls in Sindh and reaffirming Sweden’s commitment to girls empowerment and gender equality. During a visit to Bassoro in rural Sindh, Sweden’s Ambassador met 13-year-old Zahim, whose ambition to become a police inspector has inspired local families.

Zahim credits her grandmother for encouraging her determination, and her story was presented as an example of how opportunities for education and leadership can transform households and communities. The embassy emphasised that investing in girls is an investment in the country’s future and essential to long-term social progress.

Sweden said it will continue to be a strong voice for girls empowerment across Pakistan, supporting initiatives that open pathways to learning and public service for young women. The embassy’s public message on International Day of the Girl underlined that when girls are given the chance to lead, they change their own lives and the world around them.
